Imagine travelling with your family on a unique adventure to enjoy an unspoiled paradise on the Caribbean coastline. Immerse yourself in the local culture on this unique tour into the Toledo District of Southern Belize. Situated on the banks of the Moho River, the Cotton Tree Lodge offers guests a tranquil destination on a private retreat opened in 2007. The owners goal was to develop "a magical place where visitors could get in touch with the land, the people, and themselves.
As part of your Voluntourism experience, you will also spend 2 days installing fuel efficient stoves for families in a local village. The indigenous Mayan population of Belize continues to live in conditions that have been slow to improve. Their use of open fire cooking stoves continues to create major health concerns in the outlying parts of Belize, particularly among children. By installing new stoves that dispel the smoke through a chimney and cover up the flame, you will help to make a direct impact on their quality of life.
The 2nd part of your journey will take you back to Belize City and out to Ambergris Caye, the largest island in Belize. Ambergris Caye is the main destination for most tourists as the Belize coral system is the second largest in the world, and one of the hottest spots in the world for divers and snorkelers. Once there, you will be staying at Victoria House, an award winning luxury resort spanning ten acres of white sand beaches and tropical gardens.
Whether you choose to bask in the warm Caribbean sun, fish, dive, snorkel or visit an ancient Mayan ruin, Victoria House is the perfect way to end your adventure in Belize.
This is a complete Voluntourism experience that you and your family will remember forever.
